SE10 helps boost SDLG's international profile at bauma China

SE10 has once again demonstrated its ability to help clients earn valuable media exposure.

SE10 recently earned over 60 pieces of press coverage for Chinese construction equipment manufacturer SDLG's new product launch at bauma China 2016.

The biennial trade show, held in Shanghai in late November, is Asia's largest for the construction and mining industries, and traditionally gathers close to 200,000 visitors, drawn to the prospect of seeing some of the most established manufacturers of machines and vehicles in the sector.

"SDLG, as a Chinese company, relies on us for communicating its business and product messages to the international media, and this couldn't be more evident at the press conference at bauma China," said SE10 Account Executive Dion Tang.

Dion worked in tandem with SE10's APAC account lead for SDLG, Colin Tung, in the lead-up to and during the show to create and pitch stories, build media relations, and support SDLG in marketing communications and public relations efforts. Both have bilingual English and Chinese competency – particularly useful skills when acting as interlocuters between a Chinese client and an English-language speaking international press.

At SDLG's press conference, Dion helped interpret questions and answers. She also translated event and product information provided by SDLG's Linyi office into English for the international media.

"The two groups represented by SDLG's representatives and the non-Chinese journalists, respectively, operate in different languages," Dion said. "When put in the same environment, there is added pressure to ensure that our client can convey its desired messages while balancing the journalists' needs and requirements. I'm glad we managed to do both and obtain the media coverage that we did for SDLG."

SE10's efforts resulted in extensive media exposure among titles widely read by customers and industry insiders, including International Construction, The Masterbuilder and International Mining.

Aside from journalists, SE10 also helped SDLG engage with a larger audience, through the creation and posting of social media content during the four-day show.

These agency skills similarly benefitted Skyjack and Manitowoc, other SE10 clients who exhibited at bauma China and held cocktail and product launch events at the show.
